RYA Coastal Skipper (Practical) Course

Location:Whitsundays
Duration:5 days plus 1 overnight sail
Qualification Awarded:RYA Coastal Skipper (Practical)
Start Day:Every Monday (Embarkation on Sunday at 4pm)
Assumed Experience:20 days,  400 miles in tidal waters, 12 night hours, 2 days as skipper, several passages by both day and night
Cost (per person): From AUD$1,350

Course Aims:

  • Improve navigation skills
    Help you to move on to extended sailing areas
  • Cope with more challenging conditions

  • Accomodation onboard yacht

Course Content:

Preparation for Sea, Deckwork, Navigation, Rules of the Road, Yacht Handling under Power and Sail, Passage Making.
We recommend that you read the RYA log book G15 for the full syllabus.

Notes:

Requirement to gain RYA/MCA certificate at end of exam:

  • 30 days, 800 miles, 12 night hours and 2 days as skipper. Restricted (VHF) Radio Operators Licence, First Aid certificate PLUS pass the two day exam.
