Course Aim:
To introduce the complete beginner to sailing and to teach personal safety, seamanship & helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful crew member of a cruising yacht. To open up a whole range of new holiday and recreational experiences.

Day 1 - Intoduction to Course

- Customs & manners
- Safety Equipment
- Flare / Fire / Flood prevention
- Part of yachts/rigging
- Sail handling & hoisting
- Point of Sail
- Tacking & Gybing
Day 2 - Engine Componets & checks
- Dinghy
- Basic Navigation
- Basis Meteorology
- Docking / boat handling
- Rules of the road
- MOB under power
- Helmsmanship / reefing sails
Day 3 - Revision
- Knots
- Boat Handling
- MOB under sail
- Night sailing
- Meteorology northern hemishpere
- Beaufont Scale
- Basic Tidal stream
Day 4 - Advance sail trimming
- Night sailing
- Basic Tidal stream
Day 5 - Practical Assessment
Notes:
RYA Competent Crew Certificate will be awarded by the instructor at the successful completion of the course.
Requirement to gain RYA certificate at end of course: 5 days, 100 miles. These will be all covered during a 5 day course.
